I have XP64, Vista64 RC2- and RC1 installed on different partitions and all are fully functional except for the above-mentioned devices. Now-a- days, AMD is ship ping only the 64 bit processors The idea of shipping 64 bit operating system is due to stoppage of 32 bit processor by AMD. But some of the motherboard components will not support the XP64 bit operating system. Your model of presario ships with XP 64 bit processor. To install the XP64 bit operating system, both the processor and motherboard components should support it. Seems strange that Compaq/HP would sell a 64bit machine but offer no drivers to support it. Are any 64 bit drivers available (beta or otherwise) for this computer? Specifically, I need sound (conexant AC97) drivers, multimedia port and 1394 drivers. If Anyone can help and has had the same problem and found an answer, or know how to get it working, that would be great!
I wounder if anyone will have the same problem when windows hits public. What really gets to me is that this is a windows vista capable Pc. Is there any kind of driver out there that will work for my paciffic sound card? whats really wierd is that when i install windows 32bit, my sound works, but my AMD turion64 processor does not,(can't find a driver for it) but when i install the 64 bit version, It's the other way around.! I dont get it. I still have a red x in the sound icon. I have a conexant audio sound card. every time i do an install on thier recommended driver they say worked for them, i get an error message saying: error installing software. I have tried Drivers that people on here have recomended but still no luck. I Have Also Rebooted my pc and pressed f8 and turned off the Assighn digital signiture. It installed ok, but I have Found I have no Sound driver. I Downloaded The Windows Vista Beta 2 圆4 bit Version. AMD Turion64 processor, ATI Radeon Xpress 200m Graphics, 1 Gig of Ram (upgraded from 512). I Have a gateway Laptop, Model number MX6437.
